Balance in my life: music and poker ramblings
Looking at my targets for this month that I posted, I came up a little short. I might be disappointed if it was because I was lazy but that wasn't really the case. I had a lot of life stuff come up that prevented me from being online a lot the later 3rd of the month and it still turned out fine. Between, coaching, staking, playing, and some random drumming gig I got, I profited about 8k on the month. I also moved into a new place, started my senior year, and am managing to still enjoy life.I have yet to decide on new desk, so i bought some $60 cheap one at Wal-Mart that will suffice for the time being. It took me like 2 hours to build the freakin thing and seeing as I don't do much physical labor, I'm quite proud. The uneven monitor set up isn't really all that bad like you would think. I've adjusted my table layout to just play on the lower monitor and I think it actually helps me focus better.I have 35.2k vpps to go on the year for Super Nova which should be fine. I wouldn't be surprised if I fell somewhat short come December time, but I have about that whole later half of the month to make up for it. Really though, about 9k vpps/month for the rest of the year should be fine.

So if anyone wants a testament on how doing plus life ev things can affect your poker game, take a gander at my graph. I don't really want to post it yet as I'll have a nice pretty one at the end of the month, but my stats this far have been pretty sick.I haven't missed a day of running, and have been eating relatively healthy aside from one trip to Whataburger with a friend. I'm so sick focused and zero'd in when I am playing it's ridic. Looking through my hand histories, one can see a huge change in my style of play and I love it. For some reason me and a few friends were talking about our grind station set up today so I just thought I'd take a look back because I remembered a picture I took a while back.Freshman year grinding the 1 dollar sngs, even .01/.02 LIMIT (click the pic to see full view)Grinding 16s-60s and some nl100...Thought the contrast was a bit funny and certainly nice/entertaining to reflect on. Anyways, I'll be out of town for the mext few days at my girlfriends. We're hitting up a Jack Johnson concert then I'm moving into a single bedroom apartment when I get back. This weekend, she'll be staying with me and my parents at my home which is a first, but def

"Every one of us, unconsciously, works out a personal philosophy of life, by which we are guided, inspired, and corrected, as time goes on. It is this philosophy by which we measure out our days, and by which we advertise to all about us the man, or woman, that we are. . . . It takes but a brief time to scent the life philosophy of anyone. It is defined in the conversation, in the look of the eye, and in the general mien of the person. It has no hiding place. It's like the perfume of the flower ? unseen, but known almost instantly. It is the possession of the successful, and the happy. And it can be greatly embellished by the absorption of ideas and experiences of the useful of this earth." -George Matthew AdamsHave a lot to catch up on as I haven't updated in a few days and not quite sure where to start. Most importantly, I've come to some reoccurring conclusions about poker, mindset, and life in general, that are in dire need of being fixed. I had a pretty relaxing night with with my friends and actually got outside for a while too. Having not done much of either this summer, I would say it was an appropriate activity for what was going to follow. The Perseids Meteor shower was

I need a break. I'm going to be out of town this weekend which is very much needed. My laptop is doing that blue screen of dead thing which isn't surprising as I've taken awful care of it.I did 4 or 5 hours of coaching today which was great, but it really affected my volume. I don't really mind though. I'm sort of rethinking how this month is going to be. Getting in some work on my cash games sounds like a possibility and would make sense going into school this month. Only problem is my winrate thus far in cash games is 10/hour last time I checked and I'm not even going to think about grinding on that. Maybe i'll do cash the rest of the month and go to sngs if that's a bust. This probably won't happen, i'm just rambling now. I've tried to keep this blog number and stats free, but I just can't help it right now. I don't want to force my venting to anyone, just getting it down feels better and for you all that want to read, you are more than welcome to. Speaking of, thanks to all who are consistent readers and give me compliments on the blog. It def gives me motivation.360 $1 $18 9% $403 Yeah I know its not that bad, just frustrating. I need to kick up the volume. Back to it

Another good day yesterday. I'm hoping it's no coincidence that I had a massive day at the same point I feel my game has changed for the better. I'm not going to go into specific detail as to what it is since a lot of other 18 man grinders read this though. Anyways, I think my internal clock might be reset which would be awesome. I went out with some friends last night and ended up going to bed earlier (like 2-3am) and woke up at 9:30am ish. Just two nights ago I was going to BED at 9:30am and waking up at 3pm. No doubt i'll probably revert back to the same thing before school starts, but it's nice to be in some normal state a long with the rest of the world lol.I had a pretty sick schedule lined up this first week, but it's cleared out a bit. I'm not able to see my girlfriend this week so i'll just be using that for extra study time and coaching. It's nice to feel that I can breath a bit since I don't get that all to often.I'm really liking that wrist brace I got a few days ago. I feel that my arm isn't hurting as bad as it used to. I also increased the sensitivity in my mouse which was super annoying at first, but I don't have to use my wrist as much anymore which is
